Each month,  ATGhousing.com will interview an Artist and showcase a few
examples of their work.
We're very excited that our good friend Debbie Hummel-Marconi agreed to be our first "Featured Artist"!
Please see our Q&A below and be sure to visit Debbie's website at

ATG:   Who are you, where are you from, and where do you live?
Debbie Hummel-Marconi
originally from Columbus, Ohio and now residing in Bonita Springs, Florida.

ATG:  Which Art Festivals do you attend?  (or the top 3 that you enjoy)

St. Armands, Sarasota, Delray Beach, and Alexandria, Virginia

ATG: Why art?

Why not? It is my passion. I am self-taught and have never had any instruction in the field.
Anything that I do is God-given. I plan to make the most of it.

ATG: How is your personality reflected in your work?

I have never taken life too seriously and love to see people smile and laugh.
I convey this through my art.

ATG:  How do you overcome creative blocks?

I don’t.
There comes a time when you just need to step away and do something else.
Clear your head. The creative block eventually crumbles.

ATG:  What art do you most identify with?

Figurative, whimsical work. Art that tells a story.

ATG: What’s your strongest memory of your childhood?

The laughter my family shared.

ATG: What themes do you pursue?

Anything that can convey a story. Art that talks.

ATG:  What inspires you?

Rainy days.

ATG: What is your most inspirational place?

Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary, a place where the air is full of oxygen and
being surrounded by natural habitat.

ATG:  Professionally, what’s your goal?

Hahahaha! To sell every painting before I die.

ATG:  Personally, what’s your goal?

To stay healthy and keep on painting.

ATG: What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given?

Do not pay attention to negative comments, you can succeed.

ATG:  What's the best piece of advice you can give?

Follow your heart.
If it is your passion and makes you happy, go for it.
God gave everyone a talent. Find and follow yours.

We only have one life to live, make the most of it.
